Penulis Albee, 70, lives alone in Parsons and has diabetes, diverticulitis, osteoporosis, and recurring back problems from an accident in 1996. Occasionally, she uses a cane or crutches to help her walk. Prior to her disability, Albee worked in the dental field for 27 years. Unfortunately, Albee had broken and decayed teeth that were causing many problems. She had trouble eating, her speech was affected, and TMJ impacted her bite.
Albee had not seen a dentist in years, and on her limited income she could not afford her much needed dental care. It seemed as though she had nowhere to turn for help.
Albee learned of the Donated Dental Services (DDS) program and was linked with a generous volunteer dentist, Dr. Joseph Wommack. He donated several restorations and crowns, which were fabricated in-house.
